Avon is one of those brands we don't automatically think of, but when you visit your Nan and you spot the little catalogue on the side, I don't know about you, but I can never resist a flick through it. And when there's a sale book too, well, all the better. After all, who can resist a bargain?
I have five nail polishes from Avon (2 normal polishes, 2 top coats and 1 colour attract polish) and they are all great to wear. The two normal polishes I have are in the shades Vivid Violet and Vixen. Vivid Violet is a more of a shade for spring and is actually a little bit brighter in real life than in the picture below (winter weather is a pain for photos). Vixen is a lovely pinky red shade that I enjoy wearing and is a really great way to brighten up a monochrome outfit. The two top coats - Silver Plated and Opalesce - (similar here) are quite different to each other but can really add to your look, whether it be over a nail art pattern or ombré over a plain colour. But the real beauty of my Avon nail collection is the colour attract polish in the shade Blue Attraction. For a start this is a nice bold colour that's still easy to wear. And then there's the magic behind the polish. You put this polish on and immediately hold one of the two magnetic wands over the top and wait for around a minute. When you take away the wand you have the pattern of the wand on your nail. This is an easy, quick, no mess way of doing nail art that everyone will ask about.
I also get my perfume from Avon. I started with the original Secret Fantasy fragrance and then bought the Secret Fantasy Star scent. I really like both these scents. They're light, quite floral scents but not overpowering so perfect for any occasion. I also like the fact you can get small, cylindrical bottles that are perfect for your handbag. These scents also come in body mists which are handy if you want to top up during the day or want something more Impulse-esque.
I love this lipstick (similar here online or as it is a new product you may have to look through a catalogue instead). I have it in the shade Buttered Rum which is definitely the darkest shade of red in my collection. It has slight undertones of brown in it but nothing too strong that makes it look odd. This is definitely a shade that I wouldn't wear everyday but I really like it and it goes well with a dark or monochrome outfit and a simple eye look. The formula is creamy with a slight satin finish and easy application. I will definitely be looking to purchase some more shades from this range.
An item I've had for a while now is the Magic Lift mascara from Avon (similar here). Firstly, can we please talk spoolies? Out of all of my (many, many) mascaras, this has to be up there with my favourite spoolies. I just love the plastic ones, and this one imparticular manages to coat every single lash without clumping. I would definitely say it's more of a lengthening mascara, but paired with a volumising formula (such as the Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Waterproof), it makes for the perfect flutter. Another product I have is the Blemish Clearing Oil-Free Tinted Moisturiser (in light). I love this product for when I'm having a good skin day and just want to even out my complexion. It's really hydrating and doesn't cling to any dry patches and also blends seamlessly into the skin.
I also have a Colour Attract nail polish but in the shade Hypnotic Bronze. I love this nail polish! Another nail thing I have from Avon is their Nail Art Design Strips with a mosaic flower pattern on. These are amazing! I'd never tried any nail strips before and was completely blown away by these. Firstly, they were relatively easy to put on and the sizes of the strips were good to fit my nails. But the thing which I was most impressed with was the lasting power. I must have worn these for a week and none of them started peeling off at all and then I wore them to work and did washing up - no gloves - and when I returned home, only the end of one or two of them had started to peel! I was so amazed by them, I had to order some on my nan's next order form and have them ready and waiting for this summer!
My final product is the Rose Gold Edition Luxe Eyeshadow Palette in luxurious nudes. I love this little palette SO much! Firstly, the packaging is beautiful, so elegant and pretty and comes with a handy mirror. But the product just keeps giving: there's a matte brown at the top, perfect for a one-shadow-wonder smoke; an inner corner highlight nude shade; a shimmery, dusty pink in the centre which I'm sure will get plenty of use in the up-coming spring; a slightly shimmery black which is brilliant for smudging into your lash-line and then the glittery brown at the bottom is just perfect for a more evening based smokey eye.
So, Avon has delivered some goodun's. Will you be delving into the next Avon sale book?
