The formula of all five shades we own is brilliant and doesn't alter between the leather effect range and the normal range (bar the finish). You can apply these with either a brush or your fingers as they blend easily. However, don't be fooled by this because once they've set they aren't going anywhere. So, we've sang our praises about the formula, now onto the shades.
(Swatches above - left to right; Metallic Pomegranate, Pink Gold, Vintage Plum, Creamy Beige and On-and-On Bronze.)
The first shade we both bought was On-and-On Bronze, which we recommended in our Christmas Essentials post. This purchase was a quick pick-me-up replacement because the Boots store we went to didn't have any of the Maxfactor Excess Shimmer Eyeshadows that we were searching for. We gave it high praise then and still feel the same way now. It's shimmery (so was perfect for the festive season) but not too shimmery that you can't wear it on a daily basis. The bronze is great for neutral eyeshadow lovers like us and it easily adds a little bit of colour to your appearance.
Now onto Vintage Plum. This is easily one of my all time favourite eyeshadow colours, which is a bit surprising seeing as its purple. But gosh - it's just so lovely. It's the perfect shade of purple for both everyday and occasion wear - not too deep but still dark enough that it gives a lovely effect. You can just put one layer on and have it quite light or build it right up to be a much darker colour. Also, it's part of the leather effect range which means it's not shimmery at all but still has a great finish. I really like wearing this by itself with black eyeliner and lashings of mascara but I am aiming to try it out with some shades from my new collection palette that I talked about in last week's haul post.
Continuing on the colour but not overly 'out there' theme, may I present to you Metallic Pomegranate. This is a beautiful warm berry tone with an amazing gold shimmer running through it. It just... works. You can wear this shade opaquely all over the lid for a 'yes, I'm here and I'm wearing eyeshadow which is not brown for a change' look, it looks beautiful sheered out over the lid for a light wash of colour too add something to your look or just a swipe along the lash-line just makes your eyes pop and look that little bit more interesting.
Next up is Pink Gold. You may have seen last week in our haul post that I finally got around to purchasing the Naked 3 palette and this Colour Tattoo goes perfectly alongside the shades in this. Its a gorgeous light, shimmery pink shade (almost a little champagne-y) which I can see getting a lot of use over the spring and summer. Although that hasn't stopped me wearing it for last couple of weeks, I'm just being optimistic and awaiting spring's arrival. This shade is so brightening on the eyes and works so well with a different, yet still pink-y shade in the crease to blend it out (although they're so easy to blend that it's not totally necessary).
Finally, Creamy Beige. Personally I feel like we've saved the best until last, but that just sort of sums up what kinda girl I am. Creamy Beige is from the Leather Effect range, so it's matte and it a really nice light, fawn-y brown colour. When I first swatched it I described it as the 'matte version of On & On Bronze', if a little darker but on the lid it just looks beautiful! I've worn this pretty much every day for school since I bought it and I'm obsessed. A 'your-lids-but-better' shade which works really well as a base ( and it lasts so keeps anything on top in place all day) or is super flattering on its own.
Caramel Infused (725) is the perfect pinky nude, that is easy to wear and goes with pretty much everything. It's my new go-to lip product when I can't decide what to put on.
I've never been a big fan of really pink glosses but Rose Redefined (710) has changed my opinion. Don't get me wrong, it's not one of those extremely pink glosses that only a few people can pull off but more of a muted deep pink that's right up my street. I love pairing it with a neutral smokey eye as it doesn't distract from my eyes but still adds something to my overall look.
Blush Essence (705) is a beautiful pink shade, quite similar to 710 above but this one has a slight shimmer to it which looks really pretty when it catches the sun (of what little there is here in Britain). It works really well with most make-up looks and also over the top of my Barry M Genie lipstick.
Finally, there's Nude Illusion (720) which was the first of this little collection we owned and what started the whole love affair. This is the perfect everyday nude gloss (as suggested by the name!). Compared to the others, this looks very peachy toned, but this colour helps to even out the tone and add shine to your lips. Overall a brilliant shade to stick in your bag for those days you just can't decide on your lip colour.
