As we had half term we decided to three posts this week - yes three! - on our October favourites. As you can see the first is on what we've loved wearing recently. The next two will be our life favourites (mainly cosmetics but you probably guessed that already) and our favourite things/places to eat. Enjoy!
This year I really wanted to find a pair of good winter ankle boots that I could wear both for everyday outings or if I went out for a meal. I also wanted them to have a bit of a heel. Originally, I was looking for a wedge heel but when I was in New Look finding things to spend my birthday voucher on I couldn't help but fall in love with these boots, as I'm sure my fellow blogger can verify. I went for a size 7 instead of my normal size which is a 6 as I felt that the bigger size was just more comfortable. Another (slightly odd) bonus of having a bit of room in them is that earlier when I popped up to Tesco I didn't have to take my slipper socks off and it was actually really comfortable - plus my feet were kept nice and toasty! The only downside is that they are suede so I won't be able to wear them if it is chucking it down outside but for only £24.99 I just couldn't resist.
My next two items are from Topshop and Miss Selfridge and are both black tops. I do love a classic black top and when we were shopping we did feel as though we were choosing very 'Anna' (ViviannaDoesMakeup) items. The Topshop t-shirt has a lovely shape - it shows off your figure but isn't too clingy. It's great just for everyday wear or would make a classy winter-appropriate outfit teamed with smart jeans and heels. The Miss Selfridge top is definitely more sexy as it has a low v-shaped neckline at both the front and the back. I wear it with a black cami underneath as the sleeves (that are almost elbow length) do fall off my shoulders but for me that makes me love it more! Again, I wear this with my jeans but you could pretty much put it with anything depending on what look you want to go for.
I've been looking for an autumnal jumper for a while now. I wanted it in knitted style, a colour that would be wearable with purple/burgundy jeans (as well as blue, black and grey) and comfortable - not too much to ask? I was in House of Fraser re-trying on a jumper that I'd seen the other day (I was wearing the wrong jeans) and I stumbled across this one. It was cheaper, felt better on and the colour was autumnal but not too dark that I won't be able to throw it on on a chilly spring morning. So that went through the till - £18 from Vero Moda (picture above).
I also bought the black t-shirt from Topshop. My excuse was I needed another black t-shirt to wear to work (as a waitress) but really, I just loved it. It's a basic black t-shirt which shows off your figure - what's not to love?! As you can see in the photo, the reverse is made up of two panels, so the hem down the centre of the back is a lovely simple detail. And for just £12, well that makes me love it more!
My final 'wear' item are my black ankle boots from The Collection (I got them in Debenhams). They were 20% off, which made them £23.60 (you can do the reverse statistics if you want the full price).
I love them! They're another thing I've been looking for for ages and I wasn't even looking specifically when I found them. They're perfect fit, especially around my ankles as I have trouble with ankle boots fitting at the top (yes, I have strangely thin ankles). They're the only shoes I brought with me, and we did a reasonable amount for walking around towns and they held up well.
Overall, very impressed!
