Spring is here, finally, and the weather is warming up so this week we've decided to show you what we'll be wearing as a base this season.
Nivea BB Cream
This may be quite surprising but it is a fantastic BB cream. It has a medium coverage and it really moisturising, so is great for this time of year. Although it can be sheered out to give a very light, "no-makeup" makeup look. My only criticism with this product is the shades - this is the lightest shade but can still look quite dark on pale skin (potentially slightly orange) if not buffed in thoroughly. Otherwise - a great product!
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation
This is still my favourite foundation and is so appropriate for this time of year. It has a light/medium, buildable coverage and yellow-y undertones so it is perfect for evening out your skin without making it look cake-y or too heavy. As far as I'm aware, there is quite a wide shade range - always a surprising positive with drugstore foundation. Also, I can't mention this product without giving some appreciation to the amazing smell! It's so fresh and fruity and just the best product in terms of aroma!
Maxfactor Facefinity All Day Primer SPF 20
We love this primer! It really does help your base to stay in place all day which is helpful as we get into the more sweatier months (sorry, gross but true). This primer also has SPF 20. Protecting your skin is very important during the warmer months and having an SPF in your base is one way of doing it without having to find a specific product. This is definitely a must have for your spring make up.

Soap and Glory Solar Powder This is perfect for adding a bronzed glow to your complexion all year round but is especially good at the beginning of spring and summer if you want to look more tanned. As somebody with very pale skin I find this bronzer so useful and as I also don't tan much, if at all, it is especially handy. You can read a full review in our Winter Favourites post here. No7 Pop & Glow Cream Blush (Rose Blossom) This is a product that has itself been awaiting the arrival of spring! Not only is it a beautiful shade - a bright pop of colour to brighten any makeup look - but this formula is beautiful too. It's perfect to just give a hint of something or is really easy to build up for a more flushed loook - but however you wear it, it's so easy to blend so is very forgiving! Miss Sporty Liquid / Cream Blush (Coral Flush) Another cream product! This is very similar in terms of build-ability and blend-ability to the No7 cream blush but this one is a little more messy to apply as it is a more liquid and in a tube. However, this shade it a lot more appropriate to wear with a brighter lip, such as a bright pink or red (we love the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets in Frambourjoise and Hot Pepper), which I'm sure will be happening this spring! |
We hope this has helped you choose out your spring base and if you have your eye on any of the products above we'd recommend getting them now as there is a 3 for 2 on all makeup at Boots.
